September 6, 2018
Greetings:
Thank you all for your understanding as we closed schools early today. The school closure regulation for when there is a heat advisory has been finalized and we have a protocol in place. As a result, notifications will be made in a timely fashion moving forward.
Our childcare cooling centers worked well and parents/guardians shared their appreciation. As a result of our reflections on today, please note the following adjustments:
- Students are encouraged to bring water to school so they can stay hydrated.
- Students are encouraged to wear loose, light colored clothing when it is extremely hot.
- Students and staff will be asked not to go outside for activities if we have declared an early closure due to a heat advisory.
For school closures or abbreviated days, notifications to parents/guardians (emails, texts and robo-calls) will occur as follows:
- In the evening, we will schedule notifications on or before 10:00PM (unless there is an emergency)
- In the morning, we will schedule notifications between 5:00 – 6:00AM (unless there is an emergency).
We will continue to have staff respond in a timely fashion to emails sent through the “Contact Us” hyperlink on our district website.
Please see the contact information below for any questions you may have regarding:
Transportation - email [email protected]
Genesis Parent Access/Student Access - email [email protected]
School related questions, please email your child’s principal.
Finally, you are always welcome to email me at [email protected] with any district related questions you may have or if you are unsure to whom you should direct your question.
Have a great evening!
In pursuit of excellence, equity, justice and excellence,
