Language Arts/Literacy Specialist

Position Title: Language Arts/Literacy Specialist

Location: Glenfield Middle School

Qualifications:

  1. Graduation from an accredited college or university. Master's degree in English
  2. English Language Arts certification required (grades 6-12).
  3. Minimum three years of successful instructional experience in literacy; demonstrated mastery of literacy; excellent communication skills; ability to analyze data; experience in consensus building; and ability to motivate and work collaboratively to achieve a common goal.

Responsible to:Principal

Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with teachers to implement high-quality practices to improve literacy instruction.
  2. Ensure the effective implementation of a quality, standards-based curriculum and literacy interventions.
  3. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, school leaders and staff to collect, analyze and use data to continuously improve the instructional program to better prepare students for college and careers.
  4. Provide professional development through coaching and modeling (small-group and whole-group instruction).
  5. Provide high-quality professional development.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

Terms: 10-month, salary and benefits as determined by the MEA negotiated agreement. This is an ESEA grant funded position.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of certified staff.
